Dr. Laura Barczewski, a physician with St. Elizabeth Physicians in Northern Kentucky, has been recognized for her decision to donate a kidney to a child she did not know.
Barczewski was inspired to take action after seeing a sign in Fort Thomas that stated a child needed a kidney transplant. While she was not compatible with the child mentioned on the sign, she chose to proceed with donating her kidney to another child who required the organ.
