A senior missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints died in an accident at a historic church site in Missouri. Elder Brent Blackburn, age 68, was killed on August 23, 2025, near Gallatin, Missouri. According to Sam Penrod, spokesman for the church, the incident occurred when Elder Blackburn was operating a riding lawn mower on a side hill at the Adam-ondi-Ahman historic site and it overturned.
Elder Blackburn had been serving with his wife, Sister Carolyn Blackburn, at Adam-ondi-Ahman since April 2025. The couple are members of the Helper Utah Stake.

Elder Brent Blackburn, 68, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025, near Gallatin, Missouri, on the grounds of the Church’s Adam-ondi-Ahman historic site. Elder Blackburn was operating a riding lawn mower on a side hill when it overturned. Elder Blackburn has been serving with his wife, Sister Carolyn Blackburn, at the site since April 2025.
