The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has issued a statement in response to the passing of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter. The statement extends condolences to Carter's family and acknowledges his contributions to public service and humanitarian efforts.
"We express our deepest sympathy to the family of President Jimmy Carter and join with others in honoring his legacy of service to his country," reads the statement. It highlights Carter's commitment to humanitarian causes and peace, noting that he "embraced the Savior’s admonition to 'love thy neighbor,' leading by example."
The First Presidency describes Carter as a "dedicated public servant and devoted man of faith" and expresses hope that his family will find comfort as they remember his life.
