How did students from ACCEL Academy perform on the English portion of the ACT in 2022-23 school year?

At ACCEL Academy, students achieved a college readiness rate of 31% on the English portion of the ACT for the 2022-23 school year, according to the Kentucky Department of Education.

On average, students scored 15 in English during the 2022-23 school year, compared to 15 in the previous year.

English proficiency in the school rose 3% compared to the previous school year, when 28% of students were considered ready for post-secondary education.

For comparison, 47% of students across Kentucky met or exceeded ACT benchmarks in English during 2022-23 school year.

Beyond English, 31% of students ACCEL Academy met the reading college readiness benchmarks in the 2022-23 school year. Additionally, 15% were considered college-ready in math.

ACCEL Academy is located within Boone County School District, in which Larry A. Ryle High School stood out with the highest ACT performance in English in the 2022-23 school year.

Despite escaping some of the pandemic's educational disruptions, Kentucky's achievement gaps have remained an issue since 2019. In the eighth-grade reading assessments, for example, Hispanic students scored eight points lower than their white peers, and the gap reached 15 points in math. Black students fared even worse, falling more than 20 points behind and facing a failure rate nearly double that of their white counterparts.
