President Russell M. Nelson addressed members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on October 6, urging them to prepare for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. "The best is yet to come … because the Savior is coming again," he stated in a recorded message.
During the Sunday afternoon session of the general conference, President Nelson emphasized the importance of rededicating lives to Jesus Christ and helping gather scattered Israel. He called on members to talk, testify, have faith in, and rejoice in Christ.
He highlighted regular temple worship as a source of strength and peace amid a turbulent world. Before announcing 17 new temples, he discussed ongoing efforts to preserve and renovate the historic Salt Lake Temple and other areas of Temple Square by 2026.
"My dear brothers and sisters, do we see what is happening right before our eyes? I pray that we will not miss the majesty of this moment! The Lord is indeed hastening His work," President Nelson remarked.
The Church has dedicated or rededicated nine temples across five countries in recent months, with more dedications planned before year-end. He explained that temples are being built at an unprecedented pace under divine instruction. "The blessings of the temple help to gather Israel on both sides of the veil," he noted.
In his address, President Nelson assured those who worship regularly in temples would receive protection from worldly challenges and experience love from Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father abundantly. "Every sincere seeker of Jesus Christ will find Him in the temple," he promised.
Reflecting on personal experiences, including losing his wife Dantzel suddenly and surviving an armed robbery attempt unscathed, President Nelson shared how his faith provided comfort during life's storms. He encouraged listeners to devote time weekly to understanding Jesus Christ's Atonement.
"It is neither too early nor too late for you to become a devout disciple of Jesus Christ," he said, inviting individuals to offer their whole soul unto Him as a path to joy.
