Area Seventies are leaders called by The Church's First Presidency to assist in building up the church and regulating affairs in their assigned areas under direction from the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. They serve specific geographical areas but may be assigned elsewhere if needed. These leaders typically serve for five years without full-time service commitments.

There are currently 12 Quorums of the Seventy within The Church with more possibly being added as it grows.
