Elder Ronald A. Rasband, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, began a ministry tour in Central Africa with a visit to Nairobi, Kenya. On October 24, 2025, Elder Rasband met with Dr. Charles Mulli, founder and CEO of the Mully Children’s Family, an organization dedicated to helping children in need.
Elder Rasband first connected with Dr. Mulli at the Christmas concert by The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square in Utah last December. Reflecting on their earlier meeting, Elder Rasband said, “It’s thrilling for me today to be here and see the realization, Dr. Mulli, of that little visit we had in Salt Lake City, where I promised you that we would meet again in Kenya.”
During the gathering in Nairobi, Dr. Mulli brought his choir—comprised of some of his children—to perform for Elder Rasband and his wife Melanie. Other church leaders present included Elder Kevin R. Duncan from the Presidency of the Seventy and his wife Nancy; Elder Thierry K. Mutombo, President of the Central Africa Area and his wife Nathalie; as well as Elder Paul B. Pieper, First Counselor in the Africa Central Presidency and his wife Melissa.
At the event, leaders from The Church presented Dr. Mulli’s organization with a donation totaling nearly KES 18.3 million on behalf of church members.
Dr. Mulli expressed gratitude for the support: “It is the best gift that has been given by a congregation,” he said.
Founded in 1989 by Dr. Mulli and his wife Esther, Mully Children’s Family has provided shelter, education, healthcare and psychosocial support to more than 27,000 children over 35 years.
“My organization, in the name of Mully Children’s Family—the ‘largest family in the world’—the money that has been donated to us will be used, and it will enable us to buy books. There are exercise books that are also textbooks for reading,” Dr. Mulli stated.
Elder Rasband commended Dr. Mulli’s work: “We praise God that he’s made you an instrument in his hand to bring these children and 9,000 other children off the streets of wherever you find them, and give them a place they can call home,” he said.
“I feel that Jesus Christ is smiling on you and your family today,” added Elder Rasband. “You bring glory to His name, and you do it all in His name.”
As part of this ministry trip through Central Africa, Elder Rasband plans visits with government officials and interfaith leaders as well as Latter-day Saints across Seychelles, Ethiopia, Republic of the Congo and Democratic Republic of the Congo.
