The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has set the schedule for the open house and dedication of the Lindon Utah Temple. According to the announcement, a media day is planned for March 9, 2026. Tours for invited guests will follow on March 10 and 11. The public open house will run from March 12 through April 11, excluding Sundays and Saturday, April 4.

The dedication ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, May 3, 2026. The session will be broadcast to all congregations in the Lindon Utah Temple district.

President Russell M. Nelson first announced plans for the Lindon Utah Temple in October 2020. At that time he said, “As we build and maintain these temples, we pray that each of you will build and maintain yourself so you can be worthy to enter the holy temple.”

Utah is home to nearly 2.2 million members of the Church and currently has a total of 32 temples either operating, under renovation or construction, or announced.

In addition to developments in Utah, Church leaders have revealed new details about the Piura Peru Temple. The temple will be located on a site measuring approximately 2.6 acres at the northwest corner of Ave. Tallanes and Ave. Prolongacion in Piura, Peru. Plans include a single-story building with about 18,850 square feet as well as an ancillary structure.

President Nelson announced the Piura Peru Temple during the October 2023 general conference with this statement: “The Lord is directing us to build these temples to help us think celestial,” he said then. “God lives. Jesus is the Christ. His Church has been restored to bless all of God’s children.”

Peru has roughly 650,000 Latter-day Saints across nearly 800 congregations and nine other temples are either operating or in various stages of development throughout Arequipa, Chiclayo, Chorrillos, Cusco, Huancayo, Iquitos, Lima Los Olivos, Lima and Trujillo.

While local meetinghouses are open to all visitors for Sunday worship services and activities during weekdays, temples serve primarily as places where faithful members participate in sacred ceremonies intended to unite families.
