The Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints began its public open house on October 13, 2025. The event included a news conference attended by local government officials, religious leaders, and media representatives.

Bahía Blanca Mayor Federico Susbielles spoke at the news conference, expressing appreciation for the temple’s construction in the city and noting its spiritual value. He stated that the opening comes at a time when “faith, love for others, and Christian values are essential for the community.” He added, “the most important thing about the temple is the peace felt inside and the message of hope it conveys.”

Elder Joaquín E. Costa, President of the Church’s South America South Area; Elder Mathias Held from the Church’s Temple Department; and Sister Andrea Muñoz Spannaus of the Young Women General Presidency led media day activities and provided guided tours of the temple for invited guests.

Elder Held explained that this will be the 211th operating temple of the Church worldwide and the fifth in Argentina. He said, “temples are unique places where people can strengthen their faith and family bonds,” and encouraged attendees to “allow the temple to speak to their hearts.”

Elder Costa thanked local authorities for their involvement, emphasizing that the temple is “the house of the Savior Jesus Christ.” He invited all Bahía Blanca residents to visit, stating that those who do “will feel peace and be strengthened in facing the challenges around them.”

Sister Spannaus commented, “In the midst of life’s difficult moments, the temple is a refuge where we can feel the peace that comes from God.” She also invited community members to attend, saying, “Come experience the love the Savior has for each person.”

The public is invited to participate in free guided tours of the Bahía Blanca Temple from October 16 through November 1, except Sundays. Tours are available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is scheduled to dedicate the temple on November 23, 2025.

The Bahía Blanca Temple was announced by President Russell M. Nelson during an April 2020 general conference. Argentina has more than 490,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in over 730 congregations. When dedicated, this will be Argentina’s fifth operating temple. Other temples in Argentina are located in Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires City Center, Córdoba, Rosario, Salta, and Mendoza.

Church temples differ from meetinghouses or chapels used for Sunday worship. Temples are considered houses of God where teachings of Jesus Christ are reaffirmed through sacred ordinances such as marriage and baptism, which unite families.
