The Provo Missionary Training Center (MTC), operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is set for major changes nearly five decades after its opening. Plans are in place to rebuild the cafeteria and administration buildings, which have been central to missionary training since 1978.
The campus has seen various updates and expansions over the years to accommodate an increasing number of missionaries. According to church officials, the design process for two new buildings is underway. The current cafeteria and administration structures will be demolished to allow for this new construction. Despite these changes, the MTC will continue normal operations throughout what is expected to be a multiyear project.
Located on a 39-acre site, the Provo MTC includes 16 buildings that house residence halls, classrooms, administrative offices, and a store. Each year, missionaries receive instruction in more than 50 languages as they prepare for service around the globe. The planned facilities are intended to create a better environment for learning and spiritual development for future missionaries.
