The weekly program "Music & the Spoken Word" is now available in Spanish every Sunday at 5 p.m. MDT on Telemundo Utah, channel 20. The first broadcast is scheduled for June 15, 2025.
This development marks a significant milestone for The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square's long-standing program, which has been running for 96 years. It aims to extend the Choir's reach within Utah’s Spanish-speaking community. The Choir initially began broadcasting "Music & the Spoken Word" in Spanish on its YouTube channel in 2023.
“‘Music & the Spoken Word’ is the Choir’s gift of inspiration to the world,” stated Tabernacle Choir President Michael O. Leavitt. “We are grateful that Telemundo Utah will begin sharing ‘Music & the Spoken Word’ this Sunday, allowing more of God’s children to hear the weekly messages of hope and peace in their own language.”
The Spanish version features identical musical performances by The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square, with translated messages from the spoken word segment each week. These broadcasts are expected to reach thousands of new viewers and families.
“‘Music & the Spoken Word’ has always been about inspiring hearts and connecting people through music and messages of hope,” commented Terry Hritz, managing director of Bonneville Distribution. “We’re thrilled to expand this tradition to Spanish-speaking viewers in partnership with Telemundo Utah.”
This announcement comes shortly before another notable event for the Choir: its 5,000th broadcast will occur on July 13, 2025. These milestones highlight the enduring legacy of The Tabernacle Choir as it continues its mission to share comfort, faith, and inspiration globally through music and hopeful messages.
