The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced new developments for temples in Mexico and Argentina. A site and rendering have been released for the Chihuahua Mexico Temple, while a rendering is now available for the Buenos Aires City Center Argentina Temple.

The Chihuahua Mexico Temple will be constructed on a 5.87-acre site at the corner of Avenida de la Cantera and Avenida Real Escondido in Chihuahua. The temple will be a single-story building covering approximately 19,000 square feet. This marks the third temple in the state.

Church President Russell M. Nelson announced this temple during the April 2024 general conference, stating: “Time in the temple will help you to think celestial and to catch a vision of who you really are, who you can become and the kind of life you can have forever. Regular temple worship will enhance the way you see yourself and how you fit into God’s magnificent plan.”

This will be Mexico's 27th temple, with others located across various cities including Ciudad Juárez, Guadalajara, Hermosillo, Mérida, Monterrey, Oaxaca, Puebla, Tampico, Tijuana, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Veracruz and Villahermosa. Additional temples are under construction or announced in Cancún, Cuernavaca, Culiacán among other locations.

Mexico has over 1.5 million Latter-day Saints spread across nearly 1,900 congregations since missionary work began there in 1875.

For Argentina's Buenos Aires City Center Temple, a rendering has been unveiled for its location on a 1.56-acre site at Avenida Cordoba Esquina Reconquista in Buenos Aires. This will be Buenos Aires' second temple following an announcement by President Nelson during October 2022 general conference.

Argentina hosts more than 491,000 Latter-day Saints within over 730 congregations. The upcoming Buenos Aires City Center Temple will be Argentina's seventh temple alongside those in Bahía Blanca and Córdoba among others.

Recently dedicated temples include Salta Argentina Temple on June 16th by Elder D. Todd Christofferson and Mendoza Argentina Temple on September 22nd by Elder Ronald A. Rasband.

The Church's presence in Argentina dates back to when two German immigrants started preaching in Buenos Aires in 1923.

Inside each temple ceremonies teach about life's purpose while uniting families past and present; members commit to keeping God's commandments supporting His work living Christ's higher law remaining chaste dedicating their lives towards building Christ’s Church.
