During a recent visit to Mexico from May 23 to June 1, 2025, Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles engaged in various activities aimed at strengthening ties with both government officials and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His itinerary included meetings with civic leaders, addressing church members, training local leaders, and encouraging missionaries.
Elder Christofferson met with Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío in Baja California Sur on May 29. They discussed initiatives supported by the Church that focus on security, health, and education for vulnerable groups. At the conclusion of their meeting, Elder Christofferson presented Governor Castro Cosío with a Book of Mormon along with four generations of his family history.
On May 30 in Mexico City, Elder Christofferson met Secretary of the Interior Rosa Icela Rodríguez to discuss the Church's longstanding presence in Mexico. He acknowledged the Ministry's support: “We ... acknowledge the valuable support we have received from the Ministry of the Interior, especially in managing the registration of ministers of worship and other procedures, which has enabled the growth of the Church in Mexico.”
In Guadalajara on May 25, Elder Christofferson and his wife Kathy spoke at a stake conference for local church members. He urged them to trust in God's promises through covenants: “He knows each of us and gives the promise to each of us; He does take us into account, He knows who we are, He loves each of us perfectly.”
Additionally, he conducted leadership training sessions and met with missionaries serving locally. During a devotional for prospective missionaries held during this visit, he emphasized missionary work's significance: “These are beautiful times we live in; they are a unique moment... It is a unique blessing to be at His side in His great work.”
A nationwide devotional broadcast from Mexico City on May 25 featured Elder Christofferson inviting Mexican members to engage more deeply with their communities: “Sharing our love for the Savior’s gospel can bring joy to us, to others, and to the Savior Himself,” he stated.
Concluding his visit on June 1 with another leadership training session and a stake conference attended by over 1,000 people in Mexico City, Elder Christofferson focused on faith's importance: “Faith is a spiritual gift that is born when we read or hear the word... Walking in His way... we will have greater faith in Him.”
