An open house marks the completion of the Abidjan Côte d'Ivoire Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The temple, which has been under construction since its announcement by former Church President Thomas S. Monson in April 2015, is now preparing for a series of open house events.

A media day is being held today, April 28, 2025. Invited guests are scheduled for tours on April 29 and April 30. The public open house will proceed from May 1 through May 17, excluding Sundays. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will dedicate the temple on May 25, 2025, in a session that will be broadcast live to all units in the temple district. Alfred Kyungu, President of the Africa West Area, spoke at a news conference underscoring the temple's significance. He remarked, "Without a doubt, the temple is truly the house of the Lord. This Temple is God's answer to countless prayers offered in faith by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It marks the end of long road trips to the Accra, Ghana Temple."

The importance of temple worship was highlighted during the events leading up to the temple completion, with a focus on its spiritual benefits. Monson, in past remarks, stated, “When I think of temples, my thoughts turn to the many blessings we receive there."

Since its establishment in Côte d'Ivoire in 1987, Church membership has grown significantly, resulting in 32 stakes and districts and 265 congregations serving about 67,000 members. Before having a local temple, many Ivorian Saints made considerable sacrifices to visit temples in Europe or South Africa. Even after the Accra Ghana Temple's dedication in 2004, Ivorians demonstrated commitment to family history and temple work.

The open house offers visitors a chance to learn about the temple's functions and its importance to the Latter-day Saints. Following the dedication, Church members will engage in worship and ordinances within the temple, considered the “house of the Lord.” The temple experience strengthens the church members' spiritual growth and their resolve to follow the example of Jesus Christ.
