A special event centered around unity and reverence took place at Seattle's Benaroya Hall on April 18, 2025. The Ensign Symphony and Chorus presented "The Redeemer: Music on the Life of Jesus the Christ," an event that honored the life and mission of Jesus Christ. This performance gathered faith leaders, civic partners, and residents from Western Washington, including Seattle, Tacoma, and Everett.
The concert was a blend of music, visual art, and fellowship, aiming to reflect on Jesus Christ's role as Redeemer. Compositions by Kurt Bestor were featured and performed by violinist Jenny Oaks Baker and tenor Dallyn Vail Bayles. Their performances contributed to what was described as a spiritual experience for the audience of over 1,200 attendees.
Before the concert, a reception was held, recognizing the 2024 Light the World Giving Machine charities. It honored the executive directors of these nonprofits for their service. Attendees mingled with local church leaders, community dignitaries, and performers.
Elder Jared Spataro presented the Greater Puget Sound Light of Christ Award to Nickhath Sheriff of the Muslim Association of Puget Sound and founder of Essentials First, recognizing her efforts in community service. This was followed by an invocation from Michael Yoder, executive director of Associated Ministries of Tacoma Pierce County.
As a gesture of outreach, attendees received copies of "Jesus Is the Christ" by Elder Neil L. Andersen. The evening also included a "Christ in Art" exhibit on the hall’s main floor, featuring nine prints depicting moments from the Savior's life.
This Good Friday gathering highlighted Easter's sacred events through music and art, showcasing the power of collaboration in fostering unity and uplifting communities.
