Elder Alfred Kyungu, President of the Africa West Area and General Authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, visited Togo on February 26, 2025. During his visit, he met with government officials to discuss the Church's mission and humanitarian efforts in the country.

Elder Kyungu shared insights into the Church's purpose and quoted the 11th Article of Faith: “We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.”

Professor Akossiwa Zinsou-Klassou, Minister of Social Welfare, Solidarity and Women's Development, expressed her views on religious practices by stating, "The way you worship your God, or our God, is the best.” She highlighted her Ministry's focus areas: social welfare, child protection, gender and women's development, and literacy.

Koamy Gbloekpo Gomado, Minister of Spatial Planning and Development, acknowledged the Church's contributions by saying that often "people don't see the spiritual and humanitarian side of life."

Elder Kyungu emphasized that their service-oriented efforts are driven by love for Christ and humanity: “We do it out of love for Christ, for God, and for our neighbors.”

The discussions with Togolese officials explored potential collaboration between Togo's government and The Church of Jesus Christ. Elder Kyungu also met with Lieutenant Colonel Bédiani Belei from the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Local Government during his visit to Lomé.
