President Jeffrey R. Holland, Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, led the rededication ceremony for the Toronto Ontario Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 23, 2025. In his address, President Holland emphasized the importance of spiritual renewal and commitment among Canadian Saints.

“Today we are happy to break the lock on the Toronto Ontario Temple and its grounds, to have what we pray will be a continuous flow of faithful recommend holders in this renewed opportunity now open to us,” said President Holland. He encouraged attendees not just to visit the temple but to let its influence permeate their lives.

Before delivering the rededicatory prayer, he urged members to renew their dedication to “the promises of Christlike living.” In his prayer, he asked for divine assistance in efforts “to improve, to be more kind and clean,” reminding them that Christlike behavior should reflect in those who bear His name.

Reflecting on his participation in the event despite health challenges, President Holland expressed gratitude: “I felt great. I am so happy with some improvement in my health... I was very, very happy about that and happy to be back in Toronto.”

Odette Yu, a local member with over ten years of service at the temple, described her experience as profound. “It was my first time being in the dedicatory session. It was everything and more than I expected," she said. Her husband Steven shared similar sentiments about their experience during the ceremony.

The renovation project began in October 2023 and concluded by December 2024. The refurbishment included reconfigurations inside and upgrades for accessibility along with improvements to heating and ventilation systems. A public open house occurred from February 13 through March 8 before restricting access post-dedication exclusively for current temple recommend holders.

Located at 10060 Bramalea Road in Brampton, Ontario's temple initially opened following an announcement on April 7, 1984. It was originally dedicated by President Gordon B. Hinckley between August 25-27, 1990—serving all Eastern Canada Latter-day Saints then as only Canada's second operational temple out of eleven planned or existing nationwide locations today.

James Anampio voiced excitement over reduced travel distances now required compared against prior trips made regularly elsewhere: "Now it will be more exciting... It's a blessing."
