Church introduces AI-powered search assistant in latest 'General Handbook' update
The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints | Official Website

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has introduced an AI-powered search assistant to the "General Handbook" available on the Gospel Library app and ChurchofJesusChrist.org. This feature is designed to assist Church leaders and members in finding answers to their questions by analyzing queries and summarizing relevant information from the handbook. However, users are advised to verify responses through links provided by the assistant.

The search assistant is accessible to users with a Church account in English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish. It can be found at the bottom right of the screen when viewing "General Handbook" content.

Recent updates have been made to various sections of the handbook. These include revised instructions for elders quorum and Relief Society secretaries (see 8.3.4 and 9.3.3), new examples of assignments for Relief Society sisters (see 9.3.4), a name change for the CTR 7 class to Valiant 7 (see 12.1.4), and a suggested schedule for nursery (see 12.2.1.2). Information about Primary activities has also been expanded, including yearly service activities for children in Valiant classes (see 12.2.1.3).

Additional updates include clarified attendance policies for institute classes (see 15.2), references to a new resource titled “In the Lord’s Way: Caring for Members Who Have Temporal or Emotional Needs” (chapter 22), permissions for Relief Society and elders quorum presidents to initiate referrals to Family Services (see 22.3.4 and 22.13), guidelines on organizing missionary preparation courses (see 24.3.5), information about misuse of personal data in "Repentance and Church Membership Councils" chapter (see 32.6.3.4), and policies on validating ordinances (see 38.2.6).

These revisions have been published in multiple languages including Bislama, Cambodian, Cebuano, Chinese variants, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Fijian, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Kiribati, Korean among others on ChurchofJesusChrist.org and via the Gospel Library app with plans for further translations soon.
