Those interested in the doctrine, history, and policies of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints now have new resources available to them. The Gospel Library app and ChurchofJesusChrist.org have added three new pages to their Topics and Questions section. These pages address frequently asked questions about race, women's service and leadership, and the relationship between religion and science.
These additions follow other topics introduced in 2024, such as the role of prophets, the origins of the Book of Abraham, the importance of the Lord’s Church, and multiple accounts of Joseph Smith’s First Vision. Each page presents information in a Q&A format for clarity.
Elder Mark A. Bragg of the Seventy commented on the process behind these resources: “It is a wonderful process to see the interdepartmental cooperation and effort to prepare these important topics.” He emphasized that “these gospel topics are inspired and inspiring.”
The page on race discusses equality before God: “God loves all His children. We are equal in His eyes.” It echoes teachings from Church President Russell M. Nelson who stated, “Any of us who has prejudice toward another race needs to repent!”
On women’s service and leadership, it is noted that “women contribute to the Lord’s work” through various roles within families, communities, and church settings. Camille N. Johnson, Relief Society General President, added that women possess a divine endowment allowing them to influence others positively.
Regarding religion and science, it is acknowledged that conflicts may arise due to incomplete understanding: “Our pursuit of truth requires us to be humble.” The resource cites Doctrine and Covenants 101:32–34 regarding future revelations.
The Church also provides guiding principles for finding answers: centering life on Jesus Christ; being patient; recognizing revelation as a process; consulting reliable sources; understanding history.
Elder Kevin W. Pearson expressed gratitude for these resources: “We hope it will be helpful to members... Asking questions and seeking answers is a lifelong pursuit.”
