During the RootsTech 2025 Family Discovery Day, held at the Salt Palace Convention Center, President Jeffrey R. Holland and Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles highlighted the rapid growth in temple construction and its significance for individuals and families.
Elder Andersen emphasized, “It is a most special time, when the prosperity has been given to us by God to build these houses of worship across all the world, in dozens of countries, so that we can, in this time, prepare ourselves for the Second Coming of the Savior.”
President Russell M. Nelson has announced 185 temples since becoming president in 2018. During his leadership, 60 temples have been dedicated or rededicated with 47 under construction or renovation. In November 2024, he dedicated the Church's 200th temple.
President Holland remarked on his personal connection to temple growth: “We are moving. The work is hastening,” adding that learning about this expansion was personally significant.
Elder Andersen noted that soon "80% of all temple recommend holders in the Church will be within an hour of a temple," emphasizing their importance as places offering knowledge and love of Jesus Christ.
Sister Kathy Andersen shared stories about her family's faith journey influenced by temple covenants and priesthood responsibilities. She recounted her great-grandfather Daniel Henry Arline's conversion and her father's dedication to family and faith.
Elder Patrick Kearon also attended RootsTech with his wife Jennifer.
Elder Andersen reflected on his upbringing on a farm shaping his faith: “The power, the protection, the peace... will be so important as we prepare for our Savior’s Second Coming.” He encouraged teaching children about Jesus Christ following counsel from President Henry B. Eyring.
In closing remarks, Elder Andersen urged members to continue attending temples: “We willingly covenant with Him to obey Him... it will be a day of great rejoicing and happiness.”
President Holland concluded with a blessing focused especially on women: “May God bless all of you — but I especially bless the women... The great final culminating crowning work of God’s creation was a woman.”
