Church officials conclude extensive ministry tour across Africa West Area

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Africa West Area recently hosted Elder D. Todd Christofferson, an Apostle of Jesus Christ, along with other church leaders for a 12-day ministry tour from February 13-25, 2025. The visit included stops in Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and the Ivory Coast.

Upon arrival in Lagos, Nigeria, the visiting authorities were welcomed by the Africa West Area Presidency and their wives. They met with Nigerian Priesthood leaders from across the country to provide counsel on their roles as representatives and ministering authorities.

In Uyo, Nigeria, Elder Christofferson and Elder Alfred Kyungu attended a special stake conference while Elder Michael T. Ringwood and Bishop W. Christopher Waddell attended another. A devotional was held for missionaries serving in various Nigerian missions.

The delegation then traveled to Accra, Ghana. Elders Christofferson and Ringwood conducted an area review with local leaders while Sisters Rosalie Ringwood and Carol Waddell visited the Ghana National Mosque to strengthen relations with Muslim leadership.

A hospital visit by Bishop Waddell highlighted recent renovations supported by church donations. A temple session provided a moment of reflection for the visitors.

Mid-week saw a gathering of missionaries in Accra for a devotional led by Elders Christofferson and Ringwood. They also met with His Royal Majesty King Tackie Tieko Tsuru II to discuss ongoing projects between the Church and local communities.

In Freetown, Sierra Leone, Elders Christofferson and Ringwood met President Julius Maada Wonie Bio and First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio to discuss collaborative projects including an upcoming Strengthening Families Conference.

Before departing Sierra Leone, they addressed missionaries before flying to Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire where they prepared for the dedication of a new temple scheduled for May 25, 2025.

Their journey concluded back in Accra with leadership meetings involving local ward members and stake conferences providing guidance from church leaders.
