Journalists and media professionals gathered for a special preview tour of the Auckland New Zealand Temple, part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This event took place on February 24, 2025, ahead of the public open house scheduled to start later in the week.
The media day allowed journalists and social media influencers to explore the temple and conduct interviews with Church leaders and local members. Elder Steven R. Bangerter, along with other General Authority Seventies such as Elder K. Brett Nattress, Elder Peter F. Meurs, Elder Taniela B. Wakolo, and Elder Jeremy R. Jaggi, were present for interviews.
Elder Peter F. Meurs spoke to TVNZ Breakfast reporter Yvonne Tahana about the temple's open house: “So, this is a unique opportunity to come inside the temple.” He explained that after a four-week public open house period, the temple would be dedicated and accessible only to Church members in good standing.
Muriel Samuela, Auckland Communication Co-Director for the Church of Jesus Christ, welcomed media guests and described the temple as “a house of the Lord” for Latter-day Saints. Paula Midgley, an Area Organisation Adviser for the Church, shared her personal reflections on how the temple brings her closer to her faith and family.
The Auckland New Zealand Temple will host its public open house from February 27 through March 22, 2025 (excluding Sundays). Admission is free but reservations are recommended. After this period, Elder Patrick Kearon will dedicate it as a sacred space for church members.
