The second edition of the Women Summit took place in Kinshasa on February 15, 2025. This event, initiated by the MWASI YA MUTUYA foundation with support from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serves as a platform for women from diverse backgrounds to discuss building a better society.
Sister Angélique, an Area Organization Advisor in the Africa Central Area, participated actively to emphasize the Church's commitment to women's education and empowerment. The choir Éclairer le Monde, composed of about 50 volunteers from the Church, performed at the summit.
During the first panel titled "Edification through Experience," several influential women shared their insights. Sister Angélique Tarr highlighted women's contributions to society: “Everything starts in the family. A woman can greatly contribute to the development of society." Mrs. Marie Bampende urged young girls to continue their education: “We must encourage young girls not to abandon their studies for marriage before the legal required age.” Nathalie Kambala LUSE stressed rejecting abuse: "It is essential for women and girls to learn to say no to abuse and report it." Odia Kabakele emphasized continuing education: “As long as you don’t train yourself, you will become deformed.”
The second panel focused on "Perspectives and Challenges." Caroline Pindi Norah encouraged belief in one's potential: “You have the power to turn your dreams into reality.” Mrs. Catherine Fuhara Katungu inspired with her political journey: "Culture is a reflection of our identity." Julia Luhonga Mamba motivated participants on entrepreneurship: "Entrepreneurship is a daring adventure." Mrs. Sylvie Komotir spoke on legalizing activities for official assistance: "Every challenge is an opportunity in disguise."
These discussions reinforced themes of education, empowerment, and solidarity among women.
