In a press conference held in Lima, Peru, on February 20, 2025, The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square announced its upcoming tour to Brazil in February 2026. This visit is part of the "Songs of Hope" World Tour and marks a continuation of the Choir's journey through South America as both the Choir and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints celebrate a century since the Church's establishment in South America.
The Choir has previously performed in Mexico, the Philippines, and the Southeastern United States. On February 22, 2025, they are scheduled to perform at Lima's National Stadium. This event will be available for livestreaming on their English and Spanish YouTube channels. Following this performance, they will head to Buenos Aires, Argentina, for concerts in August 2025.
Reflecting on historical milestones for the Church in South America, it was noted that Elder Melvin J. Ballard dedicated the continent for gospel preaching on December 25, 1925. He foresaw gradual growth leading to thousands joining the Church across South America.
Currently, there are over four million members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout South America with congregations established in every country.
"Our South America concerts commemorate an important anniversary for all the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints across the continent," stated Michael O. Leavitt, president of The Tabernacle Choir. "The Choir’s messages of hope and peace are our gift to them."
Details regarding venues, tickets, and guest artists for performances in Brazil will be released later.
