President Emily Belle Freeman, Young Women General President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, delivered a message in Guam on February 12, 2025. Addressing youth and young single adults, she promised that "discipleship will be filled with adventure" during her 11-day ministry tour across Japan, Micronesia, and Guam.
Her speech focused on the potential for growth and strength in following the Savior. She quoted from the For the Strength of Youth Guide, stating that "Jesus Christ can strengthen and help and comfort you in all areas of your life."
President Freeman explored three questions: What does it look like to believe? What does it look like to belong? What does it look like to become?
Using Apostle Peter as an example of belief, she highlighted his transformation from an ordinary fisherman to a key figure in spreading the gospel. "Peter knew what it was like to believe in Jesus Christ, to belong in his kingdom and to become his best self," said President Freeman. She encouraged attendees to exercise faith despite doubts and fears.
The story of David and Goliath was used as an illustration of "believing big." President Freeman asked how David developed such belief and noted he followed Heavenly Father's guidance.
Addressing belonging, she shared a parable from Luke about inviting others into God's joy. She quoted Elder Patrick Kearon: “This is the Church of Joy. That’s the Church we belong to.” She emphasized that this church invites people on adventures where they find belonging.
On becoming, President Freeman discussed the For the Strength of Youth Guide's role in helping youth live more spiritually fulfilling lives. Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf described this guide as life-changing for youth who wish to encounter Christ more deeply.
Following her address, Lillie Martin from Santa Rita expressed appreciation for teachings on belonging: “It doesn’t really matter if everybody else kind of pushes you aside,” she said. “Jesus has a place for you.”
Reid Fillmore from Yigo appreciated seeing faith as an adventure: “Faith is not just believing. It’s going out and doing!”
After Guam, President Freeman continued her journey through Pohnpei and Chuuk islands meeting with local communities.
