President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the dates for an open house celebration at the Salt Lake Temple. This announcement was made on February 14, 2025, through his social media channels. The event is scheduled to take place from April 2027 to October 2027.

Nelson highlighted the historical significance of the temple's groundbreaking ceremony, which occurred on February 14, 1853, and led to its dedication in 1893 after a long period of construction. "A current and comprehensive renovation to strengthen this sacred house of the Lord for future generations is now nearing completion," he stated.

He extended an invitation to people worldwide to visit and learn about God's plan during the open house tours. "We warmly invite our friends to come and learn about God’s plan for His children and rejoice in the love of Jesus Christ," said Nelson. Further details regarding this event will be provided as April 2027 approaches.

Nelson also encouraged individuals to engage with their local temples: "As houses of the Lord now dot the earth, I invite you to cherish your time and service at the temples closest to you as we prepare for the reopening of the Salt Lake Temple in 2027."

Currently, much of Temple Square remains accessible, offering visitors opportunities to explore locations such as the Conference Center, Tabernacle, Church History Museum, Church History Library, FamilySearch Library, along with newly renovated plazas.
