Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf and his wife, Harriet, addressed young adults on Sunday, urging them to place their trust in God and stay true to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Elder Uchtdorf emphasized that life does not provide "cheat codes," but rather God trusts individuals to make decisions by following Jesus Christ.
Speaking to young Latter-day Saints at the Marriott Center in Provo, Utah, and worldwide on February 2, Elder Uchtdorf shared insights from personal experiences on agency and revelation. He highlighted five principles for young adults to remember: patience for God's answers, perseverance in discipleship, faith in divine guidance, resilience against criticism, and seeking the Lord's direction.
Elder Uchtdorf encouraged patience when waiting for God's answers to profound questions. He noted that while quick answers are accessible through technology, eternal answers require time and effort. He also advised focusing on small actions as part of a larger plan under God's design.
Reflecting on his own journey with early challenges and successes, he underscored the importance of daily practices such as prayer and scripture study. "Your 'small and simple' sacrifices are the dots of daily living that make up the masterpiece of your life," he stated.
Harriet Uchtdorf urged young adults to support each other within the Church community. She shared how missionaries brought hope after her father's passing and called current young adults "powerful leaders" who teach through example.
Sister Uchtdorf concluded by encouraging faithfulness in living the gospel message. “Trust Heavenly Father, trust Jesus Christ. They will guide you,” she affirmed.
