Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was honored for her humanitarian efforts at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival Women’s Leadership Celebration. The event took place on January 30, 2025, at the Salt Lake Hilton.
Now in its twelfth year, the celebration acknowledges women leaders who have significantly impacted their fields. President Johnson leads one of the largest women's organizations globally, with nearly eight million members and was among seven women recognized at the event.
The Sundance Institute and Zions Bank collaborated to host this celebration. Rob Brough, vice president of marketing and communication for Zions Bank, expressed gratitude for recognizing President Johnson's contributions: “It’s a real honor and privilege for us to recognize and honor President Johnson for the incredible work that she’s doing in serving around the world.”
President Johnson emphasized prioritizing global progress through supporting women and children: “We believe that global progress starts with women and children. We have prioritized their needs. We are convinced that when we bless a woman, we bless a family, a community and a nation.”
Since assuming her role as Relief Society General President in 2022, President Johnson has been pivotal in advancing humanitarian initiatives focused on women and children's well-being. In 2024 alone, she visited various countries to oversee projects addressing local needs.
The Church expanded its assistance last year to aid women and children under five worldwide, allocating $55.8 million to help millions across several countries including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ghana, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Zambia among others.
“We are the Relief Society,” said President Johnson. “And it has been our objective since 1842 to bring relief...to all of God’s children.” She urged individuals not only to consider global issues but also local challenges: “There are malnourished children right here...look around you...Identify those barriers and go out and make a difference.”
Her leadership has supported maternal care programs like those in the Philippines which trained health workers leading to reduced maternal mortality rates.
Other honorees included actress Roma Downey and Deb Haaland from the U.S. Department of Interior.
