On December 24, 2024, the Ukupa River in Panama overflowed due to heavy rains, leading to significant damage in the area. Nearly 25 homes, primarily traditional huts, were affected or destroyed by the flooding. This disaster impacted over 500 people, including children and adults.

In response to this situation, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints collaborated with Panama's National Border Service (SENAFRONT) to initiate a humanitarian relief project. This effort resulted in the donation of 2.6 tons of food and purified water for the families affected by the flood.

The aid was distributed on Christmas Day when food kits, personal hygiene items, and stoves were delivered to those in need. The supplies were transported by boat to ensure quick distribution among the community members impacted by the flood. The joint effort between The Church and SENAFRONT aimed not only at providing essential supplies but also at offering hope and support during a challenging time.
