The Hebron Fire Department has officially designated December 21 as Sharon Smith Day in honor of the former employee, who celebrated her 70th birthday on that date.
Sharon Smith served the department as an administrative assistant for 23 years before retiring in 2023. According to Chief Peddicord, a proclamation signed by Judge Executive Gary Moore was read at the event, officially establishing December 21 as "Sharon Smith Day." Additionally, her family organized a surprise party to celebrate.
During Smith's tenure with Hebron Fire, the department transitioned from a small, primarily volunteer organization into a full-time career fire department. She played a key role in helping the department grow and adapt to new challenges. Peddicord said she worked tirelessly to support Hebron's firefighters and extended wishes for her happy birthday.
