Renovation work at Temple Square in Salt Lake City is progressing, with significant updates completed and more underway. The restoration of the Salt Lake Temple's six spires has been finished, and scaffolding has been removed to reveal the restored towers. This process involved removing over 6,000 stones in early 2020 for cleaning and reinstallation. The spires have been strengthened for seismic resistance with steel plates installed within each structure.
Ongoing work includes the construction of two entry pavilions for the temple. Steel support structures are being added to uphold stone cladding on the exterior walls, with interiors designed to reflect Victorian-era style.
Temple Square remains open to visitors, who can access several attractions including the Conference Center, Tabernacle, Church History Museum, Church History Library, FamilySearch Library, and newly renovated plazas. The Conference Center serves as a main arrival point and features artwork of Christ, terrace views of the temple, a rooftop garden, and hosts events such as "Luz de las Naciones" and Tabernacle Choir Christmas concerts.
The Church History Museum recently launched an exhibition titled “Work and Wonder: 200 Years of Latter-day Saint Art,” which showcases diverse artistic styles from the church’s history. This exhibition is available to visitors until March 1, 2025.
