Approximately 500 people convened at the Methodist University in Cocody, Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, on October 4, 2024. The event was a conference commemorating the International Day of Cerebral Palsy. This gathering was organized by Coeur de Maman Amour d'Enfant, an NGO, and featured participants from various governmental and non-governmental organizations. Among them were local representatives of the Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The conference pursued two main objectives: to raise public awareness about the needs of children with cerebral palsy and their caregivers and to promote prevention strategies among the public, particularly mothers. A march spanning 500 meters from the National Institute of Arts and Cultural Actions (INSAAC) to the university marked the beginning of the event.

Sister Foua Bi Nathalie, representing Women's Leadership in West Africa for Côte d’Ivoire, spoke on behalf of the Relief Society. She addressed attendees saying, "To the mothers and their children, know that we love you and stand in solidarity with your struggle...Know that Jesus Christ loves you too." Her delegation included 30 sisters supported by brothers from all stakes in Abidjan.

Madame Gbahou Marcelle, president of Coeur de Maman Amour d’Enfant, welcomed guests including those from the Relief Society who formed a significant presence at the event.

Attendees expressed appreciation for gaining insight into cerebral palsy challenges. Sister Kpolé remarked on understanding others' pain while Bishop Aikpa M. Débrime shared his new understanding of parents' struggles with affected children.
