The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will host its annual “Luz de las Naciones” (Light of the Nations) event on November 7 and 8, 2025, at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. The theme for this year is “Paz que Ilumina” (Peace That Shines).
The event, now in its 23rd year, features a cast of 1,000 volunteer musical artists. These performers wear traditional clothing and present music and dances from various countries including Puerto Rico, Bolivia, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, Brazil, and Argentina. The program aims to highlight both the cultural diversity and spiritual heritage of Latino communities.
A media day was held on November 3 at the Conference Center ahead of the performances. Local media interviewed members of the cast as well as Elder Jason C. Jensen, an Area Seventy, and Sister Andrea Spannaus from the Young Women General Presidency.
Elder Jorge T. Becerra, General Authority Seventy and Second Counselor in the Utah Area Presidency, said: “‘Luz de las Naciones’ is intended to spiritually lift our friends in the Latino community through music, dance and inspired messages. This year, the theme ‘Peace that Shines’ will bring a large measure of the Savior’s peace that is needed in these days of trouble and strife. Our hope is to help the Latino community find a greater measure of peace that comes through Jesus Christ as we help them increase their faith in Him.
“We invite all who participate in this year’s event ... to feel once again the peace that surpasses understanding.”
Director Israel González-Nieri described the significance of Luz de las Naciones: “This event is not just a concert or a cultural performance; it is a living testimony of the faith, diversity and brotherhood we share as children of God. Not only will participants connect with their cultures through music and dance, but we also want them to feel that peace — the peace, that internal peace that only comes through the gospel of Jesus Christ. He’s the light of the nations. He’s the light of the world.”
Marietha Lázaro has been part of Luz de las Naciones for two decades. She said: “I’ve been participating in Luz de las Naciones for 20 years. Luz de las Naciones is part of my life.”
This year’s event coincides with a significant milestone for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—the centennial anniversary marking 100 years since missionaries began preaching in South America.
Jason C. Jensen commented on this occasion: “We’re celebrating 100 years of the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ in South America. The good that has come from that — the millions of people that have been blessed by the gospel of Jesus Christ in South America — has just been a great blessing and a miracle.”
González-Nieri added: “One hundred years of history, service and growth have transformed communities and blessed the lives of millions. For me, this anniversary is not only a remembrance of what we have received but also an invitation to continue sharing the light of Christ that brings peace and hope to the world.”
Sister Andrea Spannaus emphasized: “The title of the show is ‘Peace that Shines.’ We need peace, and we can find peace in Jesus Christ.”
Those unable to attend can watch a live broadcast in Spanish on November 8 at 8 p.m. MST via the Luz de las Naciones website. Subtitled versions will be available in English and Portuguese.
