Church leaders discuss new projects with Ghana's Ga Mantse
Elder Michael T. Ringwood | The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints

Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and Elder Michael T. Ringwood of the Presidency of the Seventy met with His Royal Majesty King Tackie Tieko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse, on February 20, 2025, in Accra, Ghana. The event was hosted by Elders Alfred K. Kyungu, Adeyinka A. Ojediran, and Isaac K. Morrison from the Africa West Area Presidency.

The meeting highlighted the collaboration between The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and King Tsuru II in community projects such as sanitation initiatives, school renovations, clean water facilities, youth empowerment programs, and health clinic upgrades. These efforts have benefited the Ga community significantly.

During their conversation, King Tsuru II expressed gratitude for the Church's contributions: "First and foremost, I would like to thank LDS for the refurbishments of the schools... You have also contributed to our community in such a way as never before." He praised these efforts as "Christianity in action" and acknowledged their spiritual impact.

Reflecting on his visit to Temple Square in April 2023 and his meeting with President Russell M. Nelson, King Tsuru II shared how it revitalized his spiritual journey: “Coming to Salt Lake meant renovation, spiritually... It reenergized and resuscitated... I have been injected with a certain kind of fire."

The meeting also addressed ongoing collaborations like providing boreholes for safe drinking water to underprivileged communities. Additionally, they discussed plans for a children's hospital in Accra on land donated by Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

Elder Christofferson commended King Tsuru II's dedication to community welfare and tasked members of the Welfare and Self Reliance group with exploring support options for the hospital project.

As a gesture of goodwill, Elder Christofferson presented King Tsuru II with a framed painting titled "Lead Kindly Light," saying: "We hope you think of us when you look at this." Both parties affirmed their commitment to continued cooperation.
